Gen. Jack Keane: L.A. Police Being Overwhelmed Deems It Appropriate to Bring in the National Guard

‘The people of Los Angeles deserve stability, security and peace’

EXCERPT:

KEANE: "Well, I don’t think necessarily you have to compare it to something else. Just deal with the current situation. We have the Los Angeles police chief telling us that his police were overwhelmed, and just that statement alone indicates the action is appropriate to bring in the National Guard to reinforce those police officers. After all, this is a violent protest that's taken place. And the fact that we have political leaders looking at this and denying it is pretty shameful and actually reckless and irresponsible, because when you act like that and you hear the comments the mayor and the governor are making — and you know I'm apolitical in this — the reality is that they are incentivizing these hooligans that we see running around looting and throwing rocks and stones and Molotov cocktails at police. And if the police chief and his people cannot handle it, then by all means, let’s bring in the forces that can. The people of Los Angeles deserve stability, security and peace, and when their police cannot provide it, then the federal government should provide it."
