PANETTA: “This is about provocation. It was Donald Trump who sent in the military to a peaceful protest. It was about Donald Trump, who sent in the military to basically stir things up and give him the image and give him the fight and give him the pictures that he wants. And this is about covering up. This is about distraction. It’s about distracting from his failed domestic policies. It’s about distracting from his failed foreign policies. And it’s about distracting from a pathetic row between the present of the United States and the richest man in the world. When it comes to Californians, we will continue to protest and we will continue to do it in a peaceful way. And those who don’t are going to pay the consequences. Because when it comes to Californians, we support immigrants, and yes, we support the Constitution. So we will stand with the protesters who do it in a peaceful way and continue to push back on this administration, and we will stand shoulder to shoulder, as you see up here today, because we are willing to go toe to toe with the president of the United States. Thank you."
