ACLU President: Infrastructure Exacerbates Racism
‘I think it’s important for those who are engaged in infrastructure projects now to understand the ways that infrastructure zoning laws, eminent domain have been used and can continue to be used as tools of division’
EXCERPT:
ARCHER: “And our transportation infrastructure is at a pivot point, right? Things are crumbling. Falling roads need to be rebuilt. So it’s important that we understand how we got to where we are. Zoning laws, eminent domain, urban revitalization, economic investment — they all seem like good tools, but they’ve been tools that have been used to divide, and they still can. And so I think it’s important for those who are engaged in infrastructure projects now to understand the ways that infrastructure, zoning laws, eminent domain have been used and can continue to be used as tools of division and to undermine the growth and health and vitality of our communities.”
