Francesca Chambers: FEMA Has ‘$27 Billion’ for Immediate Response to Calif. Wildfires, but Total Cost Unknown
‘It’s not just about the houses, it’s about rebuilding roads and bridges’
RUSH EXCERPT:
CHAMBERS: "And it's not clear how much, Bret, that it will end up costing. We heard the FEMA administration say today in a White House briefing that it will ultimately be billions but couldn’t put a price tag on it because some of what federal officials and local and state officials don’t know yet is how much the infrastructure will cost. It’s not just about the houses, it’s about rebuilding roads and bridges. One thing that she did say with that FEMA currently has $27 billion that it can use. That was part of the recent supplemental assistance bill. And that can pay for the immediate response to these wildfires."
