Crockett obtained his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Alabama in 1972. He worked as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith between 1981 and 1988, with E.F. Hutton in 1990, and with LPL Financial Services between 1993 and 2010.

He served as vice chairman of the Shelby Medical Center between 1989 and 1991, as a board member of Briarwood Christian School between 1996 and 1997, and as vice president of the Dunnavant Valley Greenway between 1999 and 2017. Crockett was elected to three terms on the Shelby County Commission beginning in 1996.

He served as spokesman for former state Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore’s campaign for U.S. Senate during Moore’s 2017 U.S. Senate campaign.
