Howard Dean: Biden Is Going to Win Election ‘Reasonably Handily’

MELBER I closed there ░░░░░░░░ our presentation by looking ░░░░░░░░ these tensions these contradictions ░░░░░░░░ s a nice diplomatic ░░░░░░░░ to say it Howard ░░░░░░░░ how can you be ░░░░░░░░ if you re a ░░░░░░░░ How can you not ░░░░░░░░ debts How can you ░░░░░░░░ get a lender As ░░░░░░░░ know there are complex ░░░░░░░░ situations where very wealthy ░░░░░░░░ work with financing institutions ░░░░░░░░ because of their great ░░░░░░░░ it s very easy ░░░░░░░░ most of them to ░░░░░░░░ all kinds of credit ░░░░░░░░ they have the documentation ░░░░░░░░ prove the underlying assets ░░░░░░░░ would appear he has ░░░░░░░░ problems than that and ░░░░░░░░ campaign has a cash ░░░░░░░░ So how do you ░░░░░░░░ all of this coming ░░░░░░░░ right now Dean Trump ░░░░░░░░ the reputation of being ░░░░░░░░ con man as long ░░░░░░░░ he s worked in ░░░░░░░░ York And I have ░░░░░░░░ to what we would ░░░░░░░░ little guys plumbing contractors ░░░░░░░░ Trump didn t pay ░░░░░░░░ he they worked and ░░░░░░░░ staff and so forth ░░░░░░░░ the plumbing in his ░░░░░░░░ City casinos So it ░░░░░░░░ not a surprise to ░░░░░░░░ that Trump can t ░░░░░░░░ lending from these companies ░░░░░░░░ they don t want ░░░░░░░░ get burned What is ░░░░░░░░ surprise to me is ░░░░░░░░ long the point you ░░░░░░░░ trying to make earlier ░░░░░░░░ how long his own ░░░░░░░░ will go for this ░░░░░░░░ own supporters are his ░░░░░░░░ because Trump is really ░░░░░░░░ at playing grievance politics ░░░░░░░░ people have grievances Some ░░░░░░░░ them have real grievances ░░░░░░░░ re not doing well ░░░░░░░░ and they re upset ░░░░░░░░ they re angry Donald ░░░░░░░░ the odd things about ░░░░░░░░ of this is Donald ░░░░░░░░ is exactly the embodiment ░░░░░░░░ the kind of people ░░░░░░░░ have screwed his supporters ░░░░░░░░ for years and they ░░░░░░░░ going to get screwed ░░░░░░░░ by Donald Trump if ░░░░░░░░ becomes the next president ░░░░░░░░ Yeah And campaigns cost ░░░░░░░░ Howard You ve run ░░░░░░░░ yourself you won some ░░░░░░░░ become the top official ░░░░░░░░ your state You didn ░░░░░░░░ win the presidential primary ░░░░░░░░ you ve been around ░░░░░░░░ at DNC As you ░░░░░░░░ when the money runs ░░░░░░░░ it doesn t matter ░░░░░░░░ strong people say you ░░░░░░░░ or how good you ░░░░░░░░ at politics there are ░░░░░░░░ actual infrastructural aspects to ░░░░░░░░ So on the one ░░░░░░░░ Trump the Republican Party ░░░░░░░░ is aligned with a ░░░░░░░░ of big financial interests ░░░░░░░░ America presumably they ll ░░░░░░░░ enough money to get ░░░░░░░░ the general election but ░░░░░░░░ it matter if he ░░░░░░░░ having to divert 50 ░░░░░░░░ 150 million if as ░░░░░░░░ reporting shows there s ░░░░░░░░ Could that affect this ░░░░░░░░ s contest Dean Yeah ░░░░░░░░ in an interesting way ░░░░░░░░ one thing Trump is ░░░░░░░░ good at because I ░░░░░░░░ it s part of ░░░░░░░░ illness is getting attention ░░░░░░░░ you know he goes ░░░░░░░░ these court hearings and ░░░░░░░░ covers them because they ░░░░░░░░ to see the plane ░░░░░░░░ which is basically Donald ░░░░░░░░ is a political plane ░░░░░░░░ That happens again and ░░░░░░░░ He s been playing ░░░░░░░░ game for years and ░░░░░░░░ and years So he ░░░░░░░░ survive getting press with ░░░░░░░░ base for a long ░░░░░░░░ because the media loves ░░░░░░░░ see plane crashes They ░░░░░░░░ playing this stuff and ░░░░░░░░ is very very good ░░░░░░░░ that The problem for ░░░░░░░░ is going to be ░░░░░░░░ the numbers that you ░░░░░░░░ earlier in the show ░░░░░░░░ the 20 of the ░░░░░░░░ who actually take the ░░░░░░░░ to vote in a ░░░░░░░░ primary after Trump has ░░░░░░░░ clinched the race ░░░░░░░░ there s no national ░░░░░░░░ as you know Why ░░░░░░░░ we keep referring to ░░░░░░░░ number that doesn t ░░░░░░░░ to the outcome of ░░░░░░░░ thing we re covering ░░░░░░░░ don t conservative but the ░░░░░░░░ on abortion this past ░░░░░░░░ and the constitutional amendment ░░░░░░░░ followed is pretty clear ░░░░░░░░ relatively conservative voters in ░░░░░░░░ see through Trump If ░░░░░░░░ loses Ohio he s ░░░░░░░░ going to win I ░░░░░░░░ t care what else ░░░░░░░░ wins he s not ░░░░░░░░ to win the nomination ░░░░░░░░ your point is incredibly ░░░░░░░░ taken about the not ░░░░░░░░ national polls they re ░░░░░░░░ Even these state polls ░░░░░░░░ you re within two ░░░░░░░░ again I just refuse ░░░░░░░░ panic I did think ░░░░░░░░ Biden had a fantastic ░░░░░░░░ of the Union Address ░░░░░░░░ it s true that ░░░░░░░░ his numbers didn t ░░░░░░░░ up the next day ░░░░░░░░ the roof but you ░░░░░░░░ that all takes time ░░░░░░░░ people that watch the ░░░░░░░░ of the Union Address ░░░░░░░░ people like us who ░░░░░░░░ political junkies and you ░░░░░░░░ he got a decent ░░░░░░░░ out of that and ░░░░░░░░ think it put to ░░░░░░░░ this notion that he ░░░░░░░░ a feeble old man ░░░░░░░░ whatever that prosecutor said ░░░░░░░░ him MELBER You said ░░░░░░░░ like us Howard That ░░░░░░░░ us to our first ░░░░░░░░ of the night Do ░░░░░░░░ know what I m ░░░░░░░░ of Dean No MELBER s because all of ░░░░░░░░ people who are voting ░░░░░░░░ Nikki Haley now in ░░░░░░░░ Republican primary where she ░░░░░░░░ t have a chance ░░░░░░░░ are people who are ░░░░░░░░ going to be able ░░░░░░░░ vote for Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ ll either stay home ░░░░░░░░ they ll vote for ░░░░░░░░ And as we get ░░░░░░░░ and closer to the ░░░░░░░░ I think they re ░░░░░░░░ to decide they have ░░░░░░░░ vote for Biden because ░░░░░░░░ vote for nobody is ░░░░░░░░ vote for Trump MELBER ░░░░░░░░ that s interesting because ░░░░░░░░ used the l word ░░░░░░░░ We have enough data ░░░░░░░░ many of them that ░░░░░░░░ know they do not ░░░░░░░░ Biden because they do ░░░░░░░░ love the Democratic Party ░░░░░░░░ various reasons including their ░░░░░░░░ filter and what they ░░░░░░░░ been shown of Biden ░░░░░░░░ they absolutely think some ░░░░░░░░ them as we ve ░░░░░░░░ one out of five ░░░░░░░░ in Republican primaries in ░░░░░░░░ states opposing Trump because ░░░░░░░░ the love for country ░░░░░░░░ the patriotic concern about ░░░░░░░░ that would do I ░░░░░░░░ over on time but ░░░░░░░░ get the last word ░░░░░░░░ The business about the ░░░░░░░░ was just a disaster ░░░░░░░░ are a lot of ░░░░░░░░ conservatives in this country ░░░░░░░░ are not going to ░░░░░░░░ to support a president ░░░░░░░░ talks like that under ░░░░░░░░ circumstances MELBER Yeah And ░░░░░░░░ is the last word ░░░░░░░░ an
