Louis Martin Prevost, Brother of Pope Leo XIV: ‘It Was a Blow, a Shock ... It Was Incredible’

‘It still hasn’t fully sunk in’

RUSH EXCERPT:

PREVOST: "As you can imagine, it was a blow – a shock. As I said, I don’t know to a lot of people, that day that happened, I was not feeling real well. I took the day off work and stay in bed and try to recover and my wife had gone to work and we were watching a chance going to be the next pope. We all laughed, yeah, probably not. He’s young and he’s from south America. Chansare, probably not. In the back of your mind, you knew he had a chance. I got up, turned the TV on and – I think outnumbered was on at the time, and they were live from the vatican and watching the chimney with the white smoke going okay, okay, I see smoke. Who was elected. From the point the white smoke came out till that little clip there when the first cardinal came out to announce we have a new pope, and then it’s like okay, okay. When they said they had it and said his name seemed like an eternity to me. Why don’t you just cop out and tell us. Then when he started to say roberto. I knew and I was like, thank god I was sitting in bed still because I might have fallen over. That’s my little brother. oh my God! It was incredible. And the last couple days state d it still hasn’t fully sunk in."
