MSNBC: Pro-Palestinian Protesters Opposing the Detention of Mahmoud Khalil Storm Trump Tower in NYC

VOSSOUGHIAN: “Yeah. So, it seems as if the protest, Chris, now is wrapping up a bit. And I say that because there were numerous arrests that happened on the scene here outside of Trump Tower. As you mentioned, this was a protest by an activist group called Jewish Voices for Peace. They were protesting the ongoing detention of Mahmoud Khalil. We know that to be the grad student at Columbia University who helped organize those pro-Palestinian protests, the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests that happened at Columbia University on the campus there. He has an 8-month pregnant wife at home. He has been sent to Louisiana to a detention center there. His lawyer saying outside a courtroom just yesterday that he has been unable to speak with his client so far throughout his detention. We’ve also heard from President Trump as well, who says these arrests will be ongoing. I’ve been speaking to folks at the Columbia University as well, Chris, and I will say there are people that are worried about these potential arrests that are happening there at the campus, seeing what has happened to Mahmoud Khalil so far.”
