Fauci on U.S. Zika Threat: We Don’t Think this Will Become a ‘Broadly Disseminated Situation’ Like Brazil

‘We don’t believe it’s going to be widely disseminated if we do what I’m saying we can do — aggressive vector control’

FAUCI: "Don’t take this lightly. This is something that we always anticipated and prepared for the worst. But we do not feel that this is going to turn into that broadly disseminated situation that we have seen in Brazil ... We want to represent it from sustained and becoming disseminated. Having said that, we would almost certainly have more individual prop-ups of local transmitted cases. I don’t believe it’s going to stop at four. But we don’t believe it’s going to be widely disseminated if we do what I’m saying we can do. That is the thing we need to do -- aggressive vector control."
