Mick Mulvaney on Tax Cuts: We ‘Will Never Balance the Budget... at 1.8% or Less Growth’

‘It’s just not going to happen’

EXCERPT:

MULVANEY: "My concern about the deficit is what drives all of this. You will never balance the budget in this country again at 1.8 percent or less growth. It’s just not going to happen. We have an appetite in this country for a certain level of government. It’s been clear to me now that we are not going to fix that through spending alone. We can fix it through slowing the rate of government, but growing the size of the economy. It’s that economic growth, that healthy American economy, that machine that creates wealth for the rich, the middle class, and the poor alike, also creates wealth for the government because we get the money from taxes. If we can grow the economy, I can grow the revenue side of the equation and help balance the budget."
