Dr. Saphier: Hawaii Bill Forcing Pro-Lifers to Advertise Abortion Is an ‘Egregious Infraction’ on Religious Freedom

SAPHIER: "This is an interesting bill. In my opinion, it’s an egregious infraction on the religious freedom, based on our Constitution, of certain groups in Hawaii. This is not necessarily pro-choice vs. pro-life. Abortion is legal and especially in Hawaii. And they have a lot of state-funded programs where taxpayer dollars do pay for abortion. What this bill is actually saying is, every place that offers prenatal ultrasound or pregnancy testing has to actually advertise these free abortion services. And in Hawaii you have five pro-life centers that are Christian-run and funded that do not have any taxpayer dollars going to these centers. But now they are being told, against their religious beliefs, that they have to advertise for free abortion in their services."
