Sen. Murphy: People Are Freaked out in Connecticut Because of Health Care Bill

‘Connecticut has to endure a billion dollars of Medicaid cuts’

EXCERPT:

MURPHY: "There’s no way around the fact that if Connecticut has to endure a billion dollars of Medicaid cuts, we’re going to have to make decisions between who gets health care and who doesn’t, who gets that nursing home slot and who doesn’t. Maybe there are decisions between kids and seniors. There are a couple states that have moved to four days of school a week. If you start passing along that big a Medicaid cut to the states, they’re going to have to make some very difficult decisions. So, yeah, people are freaked out in Connecticut. We had emergency field here last week and we had hundreds of people come in, many of them parents of disabled children, who literally didn’t know if their kids were going to be able to survive as adults if this bill was passed."
